Pros

I work in Sales Enablement at McGraw Hill supporting a national sales team. My primary responsibilities include managing CRM data integrity in Salesforce, assisting with pipeline workflows, and ensuring opportunities are properly documented and moved through the process efficiently. The role has allowed me to deepen my understanding of the sales cycle, collaborate cross-functionally, and contribute to sales performance in meaningful ways. The company offers strong training resources and encourages professional development. I’ve enjoyed working with supportive colleagues and gaining exposure to strategic sales operations.

Cons

Heavy focus on CRM data accuracy and administrative workflows. Limited visibility into closing deals or owning pipeline. Can feel operational rather than client-facing. Fast-paced environment with shifting priorities during peak sales cycles.

Pros

Mission-driven company focused on education, which feels meaningful and rewarding. Strong training program for new hires, especially helpful if you're new to ed tech or sales. Autonomy and flexibility in managing your own territory and schedule. Supportive direct managers and colleagues who genuinely want to help you succeed. Great exposure to higher education trends and academic leaders across colleges and universities. Opportunities to collaborate across departments like marketing, product, and customer success. Good benefits package including generous PTO, 401(k) match, and parental leave. Recognition for high performance through President’s Club and bonuses. Territory variety keeps the role interesting, especially if you enjoy campus visits and relationship-building. Company is evolving with digital learning trends and invests in new tools and platforms.

Cons

Work-life balance can be challenging, especially during peak selling seasons or back-to-school periods. Unrealistic expectations at times, with pressure to exceed quota while also handling administrative and customer service tasks. High volume of internal meetings can make it tough to prioritize fieldwork or focused selling time. Frequent travel or long drives in larger territories may lead to burnout if not carefully managed. Difficult to fully disconnect during time off due to open campuses, urgent faculty requests, or mid-semester issues. Territory performance can depend heavily on institutional decisions (like Inclusive Access), which reps have limited control over. Comp plan changes or shifting goals year to year can feel destabilizing or hard to plan around.

Pros

McGraw Hill has a strong mission and a long-standing presence in education, which makes the work feel meaningful. I worked with many talented, dedicated colleagues across product, engineering, and design who genuinely cared about improving learning experiences. There were opportunities to work on large-scale platforms, solve complex problems, and build products used by millions of learners and instructors. The company also invests in professional development, and long tenure is common, which speaks to stability for many roles.

Cons

In some areas, the “two-in-the-box” model—separating business and technical product management—created redundancy and blurred ownership. While well intentioned, this approach sometimes led to confusion for development teams about decision-making authority and priorities, with too many voices involved in day-to-day execution. In addition, Agile practices were unevenly adopted across teams. In cases where Agile maturity was lower, this resulted in weaker estimation, less predictable delivery, and increased rework.

Pros

Some genuinely talented colleagues and flexible remote work options.

Cons

I was terminated without any prior warning, documentation, or performance concerns—while 15 weeks pregnant. I was explicitly told the decision had nothing to do with my performance or competence, yet no severance was offered and no explanation was provided. Being let go on the spot under these circumstances—especially during pregnancy—was deeply distressing and raises serious questions about how McGraw Hill supports employees during vulnerable life stages. After posting my original review, McGraw Hill replied publicly saying they “take my concerns seriously” and encouraged me to email them so they could “improve.” I sent them a detailed, thoughtful account of what happened. They never replied. This is not “taking concerns seriously”; this is corporate PR damage control. If you see these canned responses on negative reviews, know that they are not backed by any actual action.
