Pros

Really great coworkers in the sales team, and a supportive direct manager, and quite a good work/life balance, depending on your location

Cons

No culture; no support; not many opportunities to advance unless you're willing to relocate; far too HQ-focused without much consideration for local offices and teams; non-existent HR; stale senior management; low compensations and benefits

McGraw Hill Response

Over the past 18 months, the leadership team in Australia has been making changes to the business which include upskilling and reskilling the workforce. These necessary changes sometimes impact employees. We understand the frustration of those that have been impacted. Nevertheless, the leadership team at McGraw-Hill Australia will continue to drive improvements that show positive business results.

Pros

Since mid 2018, not much

Cons

The lack of commercial and sales knowledge in the business is amazing. They only want yes people. The amount of bullying from the top is unbelievable. The lack of respect for people who work hard is non-existent while the gossipers and backstabbers rise up the ladder. If you can talk the talk you but don't walk the walk, you are in the good books. However if you walk the walk and don't talk the talk, game over. Potentially the most unprofessional environment ever.

Pros

• Great brand, proud history of delivering quality learning and teaching resources. • Good technology, though rapidly diminishing competitive advantage. • Interesting work, good company mission.

Cons

• Company's performance appears so dire that senior leaders are either jumping ship or being removed. Aim is obviously to 'stabilize' the company to be offloaded to another VC firm. • Failure to invest in anything new has put the company behind the market by 2-3 years. Too late to play catch up... • No real strategy or trajectory. Decision-making is ad-hoc and pivots occur every quarter. • Claim to be global but organization and strategy focused solely on US.
