Join the industry they said. If you go to college you’ll practically be guaranteed a job, they said. It’s been a year since I’ve graduated and I still don’t have one solid job lead. I’ve applied, I’ve sent cold call emails, I’ve phone called, and nothing. Mostly radio silence. Even places that seemed interested, that hosted an interview, are ghosting me after the first 15 minute interview. Are they hiring or just getting a kick out of leading me on and then just not responding for weeks after?

Times are tough out there for sure. I wouldn’t be too worried that it’s taking this much time though. It took me a year to get in when times were good. It’s part of the process. Try and find designers you like and get them to critique your book. Get feedback. Make updates. Then reach back out. It is a bad time right now though. Sorry it’s been frustrating.
Times are tough. I feel the Trump economy is only good for Trump and his family
Companies are looking for specific skills and styles. I understand where you’re coming from because I went through the same thing. What helped me was looking at places I wanted to work and reviewing their posted projects. I then expanded my portfolio to be more diverse and outside my normal design aesthetic. I tried styles I saw at the companies I wanted to work for. After doing that I got way more interviews and now I work at the place of my dreams. I also recommend taking free online marketing courses and getting certifications from that. Social media is now being blended with design so I recommend familiarizing yourself in that industry and gaining a certification. Hubspot is a great place to do that. Good luck!
Took me 4 years to land something after scad
Yes - the world revolves around you. Companies are conspiring not to hire you
Wow, so rude and unnecessary.
