I graduated fall of 2023. I got an internship after but I never found a full time design role. I'd like to make use of my degree at some point/get out of low end work so I'm going to overhaul my portfolio. I currently have a combination of illustration and product design/branding. Job listings seem to be asking for like 5 different things at this point though from print to UX to animation to photography. What should I focus on adding? Or do I have to do all of them?

Side question of is graphic design worth pursuing at this point? I see plenty of people with 12+ years experience at major companies also not being hired/being laid off. I don't want to give up but I'm not really sure what I should be doing at this point.

You can always earn more money, but you can never get back time. · Even if you’re super rich and you can’t walk up a flight of stairs, there’s really no point because you can’t enjoy life. · Not everyone’s always going on vacations... The grass always seems greener, but nothing grows without watering what’s already yours.

Don’t add everything in your book/resume. Focus on one thing. Be good at one thing and able to do multiple things that support your main. Like, you focusing on Product Design. Your UX/UI work needs to be 9/10. And prototyping, branding, content design, vibe-coding, presenting, requirement documentation and ticketing, those 7/10 is ok. Everything else are good to know but no need to spend too much time on it.
