Pros

People are drawn to this company because they want to make a difference and they think this business will encourage that. There are great people working at Navitas and everyone is supportive of each other because of the terrible working conditions they have to put up with.

Cons

- Managers are hired because of their willingness to agree with whatever is asked of them, those that challenge the status quo are not welcome. - Staff are always last priority - Education is not a priority, student satisfaction is not the same as education - The company has reduced the pay of many workers by asking them to sign new contracts, we don't get pay rises we get pay decreases - This company is using the passion of the workforce to make money and is returning the favour by under paying and over working their staff - Students can treat staff in any way they see fit and staff are held accountable for any student comments regardless of if those comments are true

Pros

If you started work there 8 years ago, it would be a great place to work. Navitas was a global company with a small business feel - admittedly one of their downsides as far as business and structure went, but you could count on management caring about you as a person and what you wanted to do with your life. I had some amazing bosses while I was there (all gone now). A couple of years ago they moved their head office into Perth CBD, into a really nice building. It still is a very pretty place to work with good utilities that you expect these days, like a coffee machine, adequate kitchen supplies to have your lunch or breakfast or whatever you eat there, and very nice bathrooms. And of course the location is convenient, being in a city centre, so you can eat at a bunch of places and do most of the life stuff you need to do, whether it's going to a pharmacy, getting blood tests, or sorting out other life stuff. As of writing this, there are still some very good people there who are making the best of a bad situation, but they are leaving at a steady rate. Depending on your role in the workplace, you may also get adequate training and the ability to attend conferences, but it very much depends on how management have handled their budget this year and who your boss is. The hours were also very flexible while I was there; do whatever start and finish time you want as long as you put in the hours, and there is no problem with working from home as much as you need to. I have heard that this may no longer be the case though. But I do not know this first hand.

Cons

Over the last 8 years, a lot has changed. All of the C-levels have left, including the guy who started the company 20+ years ago, and the people who have been put in place are now about making money in a very serious way. They are selling off assets left and right and literally pushing staff through impossible deadlines to the point where they leave meetings in tears. As I mentioned, there are still some good people there, but they are leaving. They don't pay as well as they should, which they have admitted. They make promises they can't keep. Honestly, I think I kind of covered most of the cons in the pros section, by pointing out all of the good things that have gone away.

A 'Filler' Job - High Turnover with No Growth

Pros

Provides a relaxed office environment with flexibility

Cons

Paid significantly less than the industry standard Little to no personal development or growth Management are unapproachable - many of them have no idea what's going on from the grass root level of the company Promises many things (wage increases, bonuses, new and improved workplace) - but these promises are never followed through with leaving many staff with a negative impression of the business.
