How To Achieve Your Peak Performance in 2017

If you have big ambitions for this year, you’ll need some tools and strategies to help you perform at your best. Peak performance is all about optimising your existing state and discovering where there is potential to enhance your approach. By operating with peak performance, you’ll accomplish more and open up many new opportunities.
To get started, it’s vital that you decide what you want to achieve and accomplish this year; otherwise known as defining your goals. Surprisingly, most people don’t define goals or they aren’t clear enough.
Without a clearly defined goal, it’s much more challenging to work towards something. By having this clearly defined, you’ll know how to measure your progress throughout the year.
The next step is to focus on goals you’ll likely fully attain within the year ahead, consider them year goals. Most people enter the year with ideas on how they want to improve their life throughout the course of the months ahead. Whether it’s the environment, a promotion, a change in career, personal development, financial, or something else entirely, you’ll already have an idea of what you most want to achieve from this year.
Whittle down your various desires and really think about what matters most to you. Once you’ve clearly defined the goals that matter to you, there are practical steps that you can take to help you fulfil these goals.
One simple tool is to use your calendar. It helps to keep your life structured and allows you to set dates for which you are accountable. Keeping our clearly defined goals in our head may mean that they’re defined, but they’re not as real until we see them written out in front of us.
What do you already have in your life that can help you achieve your goals? Look at the people in your network, the skills that you’ve attained or courses you can enrol onto to push you closer to your aims. You’ll be amazed at the assets that you already have available to you, but you have to be the one to go out there and make use of them.
Who can help you this year? We’re a product of the closest people around us, so surround yourself with mentors, inspirers, big thinkers, those that will hold you accountable to your aims, and ultimately people who motivate and support you.
What else do you need to learn? You may already have many things in your life that make reaching your goal easier, and surrounding yourself with like-minded people will help, but achieving your goals ultimately rests on your shoulders. Assess what you know already, and then assess what you don’t know. Once you know what you don’t know, you can plug the gaps in your learning.
Steps like these will bridge the space between where you currently are and where you want to be. While our goals can sometimes seem far away, if you tackle them in smaller chunks they become much easier to reach.
Peak performance is all about optimising your existing state & discovering where there is potential to enhance your life. We all have the potential within us; what sets us apart is that some people make use of this potential, while others are too busy saying “it can’t be done.”
That being said, you don't want to overreach. Focusing on several goals and failing to drill down into one can leave you strapped for time and achieving nothing. Focus on one area at a time and throw yourself fully into this area.
Consider outsourcing low priority or time-consuming tasks to someone else. This could mean switching investing in an accountant to support with your books, getting a virtual assistant to manage your emails and diary…there are plenty of options available.
Your time is best spent on the areas that will help you to grow, and while outsourcing will cost you, it’s a small sacrifice for the steps that you can make elsewhere in your life. We’re already well into 2017; don’t wait until next week to define your goals…the only time is now.
