Assistant Civil Engineer salaries in Australia

Hi all - I am a Civil Servant with 13 years experience working across Tax, front line delivery, policy and internal governance. Would PA Consulting find these Government/public sector skills useful or appealing? Also, advice on the culture of the company would be good.

Is bad to go back to school for more degrees, since I already have AS in Civil Engineer and BS in Project Management? Was thinking to get AS in Mechanical Engineer and AS in Electrical Engineer

I am a Civil/Structural Engineer in the UK with 4 years of experience, working to ICE Chartership. I don't want to stay in CivEng, mainly because of the pay progression in the field. I've researched and struggled to find other high paying careers I can pivot into with my background aside from management consulting. Still not sure whether to pivot now, or push through and get chartered and then think about it later. Is chartership even worth it if I don't want to stay in engineering?

It’s wild how the subject you pick at 18 can lock you into a pay ceiling, even though effort, hours, and smarts are similar. Biomedical researchers with PhDs scraping by on £32k. Civil engineers holding up bridges on £38–45k. Lab techs with life-or-death precision, starting £25k. Meanwhile, data analysts with 2 years’ Python rake in double. So question for the group: If you could go back, would you pick a field knowing the salary path — or pivot to one of the “golden goose” disciplines?
