Pros

- Great location in Melbourne CBD. Really close to Myer and DJs 😊 - You’ll still find some genuine and nice people there, but most have left due to the terrible culture. - Excellent Chief Investment Officer

Cons

Several years ago, UniSuper was a fantastic place to work with an incredibly friendly and supportive culture. The people were smart, supportive, friendly, and extremely hard workers. Unfortunately, that’s all changed in the last year or two and they now have a toxic and terrible culture. You’ll be thrown under the bus so others can survive without a second thought (even by members of the executive leadership team). The HR team do nothing to protect their employees – it’s all about protecting the department heads (Heads of) and executive leadership team. There are many people in senior positions at UniSuper that should not be. People are exiting in droves because, like me, they simply couldn’t take the drivel that some of the senior management talk when they actually have very little experience or idea. People who are good at their job and experts in their field probably have a worse time of it at UniSuper – mainly because you end up getting so frustrated with the people leading it and the bad decisions being made. If you speak up about these bad decisions you’ll be seen as a blocker, not a team player, or ‘not on the bus’, which is favourite saying of one executive. It’s actually really sad to see because UniSuper was such a great organisation. They like to tell you they’re more commercial now and that’s why the culture has shifted over the years, but that’s not it at all – it’s just an excuse. I work in a commercial organisation now that manages to have an amazing culture, super smart people, a senior management team that knows what they’re doing, and they are still supportive and kind. Be very aware before joining this company because you probably won’t be advancing your career. You’ll likely be executing on bad decisions, projects that fail, and you’ll probably be bashing your head against a brick wall while your skills and experience waste away.

Pros

Location, name on the building

Cons

There is a reason why everyone is leaving, it’s because there are some horrible people who have been hired and been left to run a muck! There are so many silos and you can’t get anything done unless you know someone. The executive leadership team doesn’t get along and is falling apart even though they have all been flipped not too long ago. Some leaders have been hired for diversity reasons over experience and competency, this has ruined the place. Hire base on skills and merit!!! Everyone who is still there are just campers who won’t budge unless they get a payout and all the good people are fed up and have already left. Tenure isn’t a sign of loyalty. It’s a sign of complacency and is the root cause of all the problems.
