Pros

Worked for 3 CEO's. The first was well intentioned and a decent human but inept. The second who I worked with for his entire time was a true leader that was shaping QinetiQ into a progressive organisation that had a clear mission, vision and values and was well on its way to achieving it. I have never seen an organisation transform itself in these 3 years. Working for the previous CEO was without doubt the greatest career experience I have and am likely to have as an employee and has shown me what true leadership can do.

Cons

Distinct (negative) change in culture reflecting change in CEO's. Went from progressive disciplined meritocracy under CEO number 2 with vibrant energy to a loosely run Canberra based boys ex services based boys club (some of whom are/were criminally incompetent yet operated with abandon). In a few months most of the operational gains that had been built in the years prior and discipline that had been built vaporised - talk about own goal...

Pros

401k match is decent for now.

Cons

This is culturally impoverished company and they did it to themselves by eliminating virtually all talent management and internal communications functions. They cycle through executive leadership like chewing gum and you never really hear why. You just assume that after a few weeks there will be some new announcement about someone new taking on a high-stakes position and/or an announcement about selling off a portion of the company without warning. The corporate culture is positively toxic. HR appears to be managed and executed by full blow sociopaths. This company loses work simply because they don't know what is going on with delivery or how delivery translates to new opportunities. There is also no bench time or any system or structure in place to move people from one project to another--even if you are a star performer. Executive leadership is completely out of touch. I honestly don't know what they are doing all day besides waiting in line for the inevitable guillotine. You cannot grow your career here. You just work on your project until it runs out and hope you can land elsewhere. Anything they tell you otherwise is nonsense. Stay away!
