I had successful interviews with both ANZ and
Commonwealth Bank and sharing with you the difference between both.
Commonwealth Bank is looking for the best for each position and this is not compromisable, so for each position, they might interview more than 10 people to find the best.
ANZ is looking for an ex-ANZ or someone with a connection and this is not compromisable.
ANZ uses higher technology and jobs are BAU or at least it doesn't matter what level of skills is needed, but CBA is upgrading and does need profetionals to join the team.
ANZ is a process-oriented organization, they ask each candidate to follow three three-step interviews including a code challenge, a sociology test and a presentation. In CBA the team decide who matches the best for the team and the interview is a case study and technical knowledge, they have recently added a code challenge. CBA's TA team thoroughly reviewed all submitted resumes. However, ANZ's recruitment process seemed to prioritize referred candidates, making it challenging for non-referred applications to gain traction.
