Is anyone still in a fully remote role? Are you still enjoying it or considering going back to in-office roles?
What's the secret to increasing your salary this year among a land of layoffs? Is it just me or is the only option to job hug and not get a pay increase?
I’m making $170k, but 80% of my job is just cleaning up hallucinated code from our offshore team. Leadership thinks they’re saving millions by using AI-powered contractors, but I’m spending my entire week fixing basic logic errors and security holes that shouldn't exist. The actual codebase is becoming a house of cards that’s going to collapse. Does anyone else feel like their high salary is basically hazard pay for managing a mountain of AI slop?
Would you take a paycut to join visa ?
I haven’t worked in an office for 6 years, interviewing for a new role that’s hybrid. Going into the office isn’t a dealbreaker, but is everyone’s office culture taking calls at your desk? Or does any truly collaborate in-person anymore?
I hit my FIRE number at 31, but I’m too scared to quit because I don't know what to do. I’ve spent ten years obsessing over vesting schedules and promotion cycles. I see my non-tech friends struggling to pay rent and I feel a weird survivor's guilt. How do you walk away from a $25k monthly direct deposit when you’ve made it your entire identity?
Will never go back to in office role if I don’t have to
I agree, I’d rather stay in my current role forever than change
I’m hybrid now but this is silly. No one I work with is in my office but for 1 or 2 people who are like 4 degrees from my role. I’m driving in to sit in a corner and work in silence while listening to podcasts. It’s insane.
Yeah I have friends who have a similar set up, it seems like this is the new in office standard
I'm 6 months into unemployment after a RIF, and I am willing to move to a new location and go to that office to get back to work at this point.
Sorry friend, hope you find something soon
My full remote role went hybrid and then I switched to an in office job.
Are you enjoying it?
Remote still.
Remote too but I actually hate it now! I feel so isolated, and throughout my career I have hardly made many friends because of it. I want a hybrid or on site role now just NOT in a cold/ rainy place lol.
Remote since last 8 years and will never go back to office ever again unless it’s circumstantial and can’t make ends meet.
