Honestly, who here still cares about the whole WLB line? I’m tired of managers acting like we should be grateful because supposedly we work fewer hours than people in other countries. If it’s 2050, I’m still on £70k, and my monthly train ticket costs £1k, are we seriously still going to pretend it’s all worth it just because we work 20 fewer hours a week than people in other countries?
Are we ready for more taxes? Apparently there will be a 22% tax on stock and share ISA next April… I guess we need to generate more taxes so that we could pay for more benefits!
For those who work at Deloitte Leeds/ UK, I didn’t realise I didn’t have my timesheet on swift accurate and the client got billed incorrectly, I’m now worried it will lead to a disciplinary or affect my promotion- how do these things work? I got an email from the director telling me I need to make sure my time sheets are accurate
What would you do in my situation? I’m doing some mentoring on the side (volunteering) to help students break from academia to consulting. While it’s largely fulfilling, there is one student who quit the mentorship program halfway because he was no longer interested in the career path, citing his own word: “your jobs will all be replaced by AI soon” 🤣. Fast forward couple months, he’s trying to reconnect and ask for help designing deck and case studies etc. Would you offer to help or ghost?
Any insights on capgemini invent (frog) - seems to be relatively new and mass recruiting. Interested to know about M/SM role, salary and what it’s like.
I knew a few who joined BCG as a consultant having been Manager at Big 4. Benefits are: immediate compensation bump (base salary and bonus), longer term higher comp progression, more exposure to pure strategy, due diligence etc vs implementation work (assuming that’s a positive for you) Main “complaints”: step back in responsibility - you go back to primarily being a “doer” vs a true manager for 1.5-2 years before promotion to PL where you will regain those responsibilities Hours are generally longer as well I’ve never worked at big 4/T2 so this is second hand feedback I’ve heard from others. Hope it helps your decision!
That sounds like a huge step back for not a lot of upside
No way
If M now, worth it. Not worth it if officially SM
What does EM mean in terms of YOE? EM at McK can mean 3-4 YOE which would mean you wouldn’t join as a higher than a C. We had several issues with Experienced hires joining as an M or SM and failing.
Worth. Your progression will probably be faster long run than at T2, and also more upside potential at MBB (both at MBB and external).
