Pros

The people you work alongside.

Cons

Oh Tyro! The cultural shift over the past couple of years has been disappointing to say the least. A new CTO and CPO bought hints of excitement (as new leaders do), unfortunately, they both cut their leadership teams in favour of "friends" that were ill-equipped for their roles. Even these "friends" hired friends (or their own family) with no experience into roles that would have been better suited to the amazing talent already at Tyro (basically no chance of career development). The effect on so many aspects of Tyro is devastating, They bang on about psychological safety like they know what it means - they don't. There were so many cases of bullying that were reported and overlooked, it was heartbreaking. There were also cases of bullying that weren't reported as people were worried about the repercussions - as they were bullied because they had dared to give feedback, that was actually asked for. A new CEO in January bought hope for a turnaround. Well, he did turn things around - 32 people (mostly in Tech) were made redundant. The reason given was to fund more marketing and sales to grow the business. They were told on Tuesday and out the door on the Friday after a "consultation period". Now the people that remain will have to absorb the responsibilities of the redundant roles for the same pay, cue burnout.

Pros

Good people. Fun office and location. Teams generally try to look out for one another.

Cons

Horrible direction from leadership. CTO arrived and systematically removed almost all long standing tech leads and managers - even when they were genuine about adopting his new ways or working. Of course those positions were backfilled with former colleagues of the CTO who were all seemed to lecture 10+ year employees on the "Tyro way". This bred lots of mistrust between engineers and tech leadership.
