Incompetent Senior Management and Unprofessional People’s advisors (HR) I was hired to work for EO In May-22 The first three months I was left on my own trying to figure out what I was supposed to do. No handover, no explanation and no introduction to any stakeholders. My probation was extended and I was threatened that if I didn’t finish the project in 3 months I would not pass probation. This was a 1+ year project at least that needed a lot of resources to be finished. I could not finish it so probation was extended a second time. My line manager when we were doing our 1-2-1s was very belittling, calling me names and sending me private and confidential letters saying how incompetent I was and he was threatening me constantly that he would fire me if I didn’t finish the reconciliation project before the end of my probation. I spoke to People’s advisor to tell them that it should not be the case that my probation is extended twice and that my boss can call me ‘incompetent’ in a formal letter. She told me that they have very good lawyers and they know what they are doing. She also suggested that if i didn’t like the way they operate I should just quit. That was a bit shocking coming from the People’s advisor. I also faced homophobia by other Senior managers that I had to work with after coming out. I never reported this to the HR because at this point I was concentrating finding another job. The city is a small place so every time I discuss about QBE I always make sure to share my very bad experience and to advise them to stay away from the company.
