Pros

- Flexible remote options - Extensive knowledge in claim handling When you reach casualty level wfh is really flexible with only 4 in office visits per month. GEICO adjusters at least at CDU level and up have been through extensive claim handling trainings and have weekly/monthly refreshers. All adjusters are given valuable resources to work the job as if they don't have a supervisor. I can't speak for other departments but if you take on this job in the auto claims, you will be well versed and prepared to take on roles elsewhere.

Cons

- Workload - No incentives for exceptional performance - No real culture - Micromanagement The company has gone through some changes that aren't employee friendly. The company has not offered profit sharing since 2021. To supplement the profit share they give employee ,merit raises based off performance. With the minimal increases even as a top performer the merit comes off as nothing more than a standard of living increase. Workload can also get daunting especially if you take time off. The expectation is your teammates will manage your case load but it also discourages you from taking a longer vacation. The company used to give employees or a family they sponsored a thanksgiving turkey, company events in the parking lots on weekends, and excellent giveaways for employees. They are far removed from those days and ever since the layoffs in October '23 I have had an eerie feeling stepping foot in the office. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere if wanting to pursue a career in insurance.

Pros

Strong opportunities for career growth Many people are willing to mentor and support others without expecting anything in return Supportive culture, even from people who may not know you personally Increased focus on education and development, especially for leaders More company activities at the local office, which has been a welcome change Fun associate engagement opportunities like escape rooms, art activities, games, and food events So many opportunities for recognition

Cons

There are still some areas where the company appears to be rebuilding trust and confidence Change is noticeable and appreciated, but some improvements are still in progress Feedback has clearly helped shape recent changes, and it will be good to see that progress continue
