Pros

chill, friendly team, staff discount, good for uni students

Cons

- endeavour group cuts corners to maximise profit resulting in stretched and underpaid staff. (Noticeable decline after demerger from Woolworths) - abusive and alcoholic customers - wayyyyy too much emphasis on customer service - management can be all over the place, with frequent management changes - boxes get heavy - unrealistic time expectations for completing tasks - repetitive - always remember, you are just a number to them - somehow they always hire the most sh*t team members?? maybe that's just the demographic that applies to such a place

Pros

1. Some of the other customer assistants are wonderful 2. You genuinely get to know locals and get repertoire going with regulars 3. If you enjoy physical exertion, the lifting and constant movement is a bonus 4. If you have people-skills, show interest and learn fast about wine/beer/spirits, you can be promoted to Duty Manager quite quick (I was promoted 3 weeks in)

Cons

1. Management - really it's luck of the draw if your experience working at Dan's is good. Initially I had a blast, my manager was wonderful, she developed my personal and professional skills and was genuine and hard working. When she was promoted we got manager after manager that had absolutely no clue and played the politics game - everything was about putting on a show for Area Managers and palming off responsibility to lower level management (part-time students) and then taking off. 2. Taking time off from September -January is not possible. 3. It is a partial warehouse job - you need to be prepared to lift slab after slab for hours, especially in peak periods.
