Pros

Employees have a lot of freedom to do what they feel is right for the business. This is not a culture bogged down by bureaucracy which is in part why we continue to grow. While internal alignment is necessary at times the focus is on impactful work to drive our business vs. creating presentations for internal stakeholders. There are many new faces at the organization, many of which came from large, well-known CPGs. They are coming here because they can utilize their skill sets to have a real impact.

Cons

A bit of apathy in pockets and teams. We need better technology and tools. More internal leadership and development programs. Sacramento can be hard to attract talent. Flat organization which can hamper upward mobility career-wise.

Pros

CEO Mark Jensen is doing all the right things. They pay among the leaders for industry and location. Company has seen a lot of growth recently.

Cons

HR and Finance departments are led by incompetent managers. Politics are values over merit. If you have a different background than the CFO he ignores your ideas and input. They have positions that have been open for 7 months making life hell for us, but they seriously can't find a qualified candidate? Ridiculous how senior leaders talk to you, and try to put themselves above everyone else. Arrogance is the most common trait you find in Sacramento headquarters. There was a time I thought I would never leave and now I can't wait to find a better office environment where doing a good job is more important than how you play politics.

Pros

The people are great and everyone is generally friendly. Most departments are relatively stress free.

Cons

There is no people development. No goals and objectives. As another review stated, there is plenty of white space to make your mark, but there is no recognition process for these efforts. The entire place seems like everyone is content to work in the same dead end job for 30 years. I think I may have seen 2 promotions in my time here, and both of them were people doing their "promotion" job for years before recognition. Blue Diamond has spent a lot of time and money on a recruitment process over the last few years, and the new hires are all starting to leave because they have no career path. On top of that, the benefits are severely lacking, the year end bonus targets just increased over 100% from a year ago, even though we are not hitting this years target.
