Pros

Great opportunity for interns to enter learn a lot and leave quickly. Note: Do not hang around.... all those promises are empty!!!

Cons

Corporate cards are used by boss and their fav employees so one can expense and the other can approve. American Expats Fast tracked and preferred over locals when it comes to promotions. Grades are a number like a carrot dangling in your face, Grades dont matter a 23 grade can potentially get paid more than a 27 HR hires developing country personnel so they can pay them 1/4 of what the expats get and close to the minimum wage Leader+ is a joke, people pass on money to their mates for no apparent reason

Pros

The RDO they implemented was great, every second Monday off. If you are an Engineer, Project Controls, Contracts - pretty much any department other than Office and Admin Services or Human Resources you will get good opportunities and good compensation.

Cons

Compensation for those in roles such as Administration, Human Resources etc. is overlooked You cant move up in the company very easily unless you work on projects and roles such as Admin and HR don't get opportunities to go to site very much. Very Male dominated which is probably to be expected in a Construction company Senior Management don't fit for pay increases / bonuses for their staff, it was often up to the next level of management As with all companies they have their favourite employees in each department who get offered all the promotions / great opportunities, was sometimes hard to see certain people getting the opportunities when the rest of the team doesn't feel they are right for the role. In the past couple of years the Brisbane office has been making people redundant due to lack of work. Somehow an employee with very little interpersonal skills, a reputation amongst the office for being difficult to work with unless she liked you and limited role experience - she had been in her same role of years - got a transfer to the US whilst other people were laid off. A senior manager told his HR rep that he needed to hire a male for a certain role, even though it was against policy to discriminate like that. He told her each year they alternate with their graduate so one year male, the next female. I don't believe this was ever reported due to the backlash the HR rep would have received in doing so. If you get a good manager it can be great, however most of the senior management were actually bullies, had 2 admin assistants in tears and it was never reported because of the anticipated backlash it would receive. The head of Mining and Metals insisted his door was always open for issues like that but in reality it was empty words. No work life balance at all, even in the corporate office. As most of the managers are American they are shocked if employees leave on time / before they do as it is apparently not the way in the US.

Pros

Relatively above market pay Good network of international offices Great experience working on large projects Quite reputable employee You can find very good people with strong technical backgrounds there

Cons

The senior management still run the company the old fashioned way. No open mind to things like flexible working hours or remote working. No real opportunity to progress your career if you are not in the game with those who has been there for many years. Also a lot of politics around. The Australian branch is not specifically a safe place to work as it is dedicated to mining and metals or Oil & Gas sectors.
