Talent acquisition contacted via Linkedin, although I was not looking for change but they insist on the role and promote the company great technology and culture. After I read more about Immutable it looks like a good place to learn and make impact.
1st round with Director of engineering, asked about past experience and few simple leadership questions like performance management, etc.
Talent acquisition called and shared feedback: "oh it was great, we are so keen to move forward, I know this role title is lower with your current but we'll work it out, and don't worry about salary package, we manage it anyway, here is great place for you to gain more experience about Blockchain".
2nd round, young engineer ask to design a system to generate continuous numeric identifiers in large scale, and in 2nd half build (code / sudocode) the system in any language, shouldn't necessarily compile and run, just to see your coding skills.
Got feedback from talent team, "congrats, you did pass this round, although we don't expect heavy development engagement from EMs but it was really good scalable design".
3rd round, with CTO, questions about past experience? what you've done? why did you leave? what you looking for at Immutable? dry and one-way except last few minutes.
Talent team called and asked how was it? shared my last round interview experience and improvement areas like: there was not much discussion/information about open EM role, expectations and technology vision and strategy in final round, talent said: oh actually we think it went well but we need to find the right team for you, and your skillset.
Well this doesn't sounds right to me, shouldn't you look for right skillset to match in early stage rather than final round?
Anyway I stayed tuned and she keep postponing the catch up for 2 weeks, that's not great candidate experience right? 2 weeks waiting for yes/no (although I was not really waiting, last signal was pretty clear).
Finally received a feedback that: look you are strong EM and can add value to team BUT we don't have right team for you NOW and if you can wait we build a team and contact you as 1st candidate AND we know that you might not be available by then so good luck!
To candidates: be mindful of your time and effort, when you see such signs raise questions and follow up, this may look simple but takes few weeks to reach to the point of "good luck" or offer. And don't be shy to ask for higher package salary, if they have "right" team they'll make it happen.
To Immutable: value candidates time and do your homework before contacting and engaging candidate, matching candidate skillset is not that difficult to leave it for final round after few weeks to figure out. Even if things change in middle be transparent and communicate.
