Are we ready for more taxes? Apparently there will be a 22% tax on stock and share ISA next April… I guess we need to generate more taxes so that we could pay for more benefits!
Is moving to London for a Big 4 opportunity worth it despite the high taxes and cost of living?
Currently considering an opportunity at Partners in Performance (recently acquired by Accenture) and would genuinely love to hear from anyone who has worked there recently or knows the firm well. Would be really interested to hear honest thoughts on: • day-to-day culture • work/life balance in reality • how intense the travel actually is • what the Accenture integration feels like in practice Posts online about PiP are fairly limited. Thanks!
Hey, for some reason I’ve been kicked out of the Deloitte uk bowl so will ask here… I’m contemplating moving op units. How should I approach this so that I don’t burn any bridges? The op unit I’d potentially like to move to is currently hiring, but they might not hire me so I don’t want to apply and then not get it and my op unit knowing that… Thanks in advance helpful people :)
Honestly, who here still cares about the whole WLB line? I’m tired of managers acting like we should be grateful because supposedly we work fewer hours than people in other countries. If it’s 2050, I’m still on £70k, and my monthly train ticket costs £1k, are we seriously still going to pretend it’s all worth it just because we work 20 fewer hours a week than people in other countries?
There are no regrets to this move, it’s just exceptionally hard to do at the right salary
Hate it, genuinely. The state of modern British corporations is pretty poor overall. I’ve never seen so much waste in my life, so much poor judgment and make-work jobs. The state of consulting is bad too, but it’s nowhere near as bad as industry. The best exit from consulting is to contract and stack multiple contracts.
Haven’t been able to make the conversion personally but a few my friends have. They’re the ones retiring at age 50 whilst I’m still suffering in garbage corporates. Plus zero corporate politics when you’re a contractor.
