I was a personal lines underwriter for about 9 years then moved into sales with 2 different carriers for the last 8 years. Thinking about getting back into the UW side.... Will carriers take on UW's that do not have any formal designations these days or is that a "must have" to land an UW job today?
I just completed orientation for a new job, and the paperwork I signed says I agree to follow the office's fragrance free policies. I get that means no perfumes or scented lotions, but they can't possibly expect us not to wear deodorant or use scented shampoos? How do you make an office completely fragrance free?
Do you think I blew my chances today when I asked for a restroom break during an interview? We had been in the interview for over an hour and I didn't see any signs that we were winding things down, so I asked for the break. But the interviewer did wrap things up about 10 minutes after I got back. Felt like maybe he wrote me off at that point.
You don’t need a designation to land a commercial lines UW job :) it helps a bit im sure but not a necessity
Experience matters most. Just try to bridge any gaps you might have after the time away, and start trying.
