Is it unethical for me to work for two different insurance companies? I'm still remote and I've been given an offer for another sales job. Both would be remote and I think I can handle the work load.
When does the day start for you? I hate getting up early, but I'm forced to get up by 5:00 a.m. each morning in order to get everyone ready, out the door, and get myself to work on time. Adulthood is overrated.
Does your employer allow work email on your phone? I’m conflicted… I like having access to everything but it also means I’m never truly off. Thoughts?
I have noticed that on some teams, taking a real lunch break almost feels discouraged. Many people eat at their desks while continuing to work, as if stepping away for 20-30 minutes signal a lack of commitment. I think short breaks and fresh air improve focus, decision-making, and overall performance far more than nonstop screen time. Do strong workplace cultures encourage healthy boundaries or quietly reward constant availability?
Remote workers with kids, what are you planning on doing with your kids this summer? Do you keep them at home and try to work, or do you spend the money for daycare? Last year, I kept them home and it was a complete nightmare, but I'm not sure I want to cough up $2,500 a month on childcare, just so I can keep my home quiet enough to work.
Board of directors and CEO's with oversized bonuses.
Not gonna disagree with that one!
You’re a clown. Actuaries are paid a lot, but it’s because we passed a bunch of math exams that most people can’t pass, and we are capable of determining how to best manage risk better than most people. Whenever the actuaries at my company come up with a forecast and financial leadership doubts whether it’s correct and pushes to have it changed, the initial actuarial forecast ends up being closer to reality than what leadership thought would happen 90% or more of the time. Most of the actuarial job is sitting around and thinking about things, so it might look like we’re not doing “work,” but insurance companies cannot function without actuaries. When you look at it that way, it’s almost impossible for actuaries to be “overpaid” for the work they do.
I've seen several articles talking about how Actuaries are a field in site need of a new batch of experts, and it pays well. How did you get started?
I'm overpaid for some of the actual work I do, but that's because I have to do everything! If I had some junior level help I could do more of the work that correlates with my pay.
Ha! Actuary for sure

CSR is a tough job! Overpaid? I don’t think so.
