Pros

- Free laser treatments - Clients confidence grow during treatments - Training provided

Cons

Working at Laser Clinics Grand Central was a very negative experience. Staff are regularly overworked with long hours and rushed treatments due to constant overbooking. Breaks are often cut short to fit in more clients, and overall staff wellbeing is not prioritised. The focus is solely on profits rather than supporting practitioners. Treatment protocols are not always followed properly (e.g., inadequate time for spot sizes in solution), which raises concerns around hygiene standards. Career progression is very limited most practitioners are kept on laser for long periods, and even after skin training, only senior staff are given opportunities to perform those treatments. Additionally, unprofessional behaviour from management, including remarks from clinic owners during a staff night out. This type of environment can be extremely detrimental to mental health. Overall, I would not recommend this workplace to anyone seeking a supportive, professional, and fair environment.

Pros

Training opportunities Career progression if needed Hit or miss if your team is going to be nice and helpful Friendly clients Free treatments

Cons

1 half an hour break for a 10 hour shift 1 in 1 out - sometimes have 10 minutes for a client from the minute they walk in the door until they leave. Pay not great for the amount of effort you put in

Pros

It's a good job to get your foot in the industry, as it's very fast-paced. The colleagues I worked with were great; we all shared the same feelings. The exposure to so many clients provided valuable experience.

Cons

Bonuses were extremely unfair. At the location I worked at, therapists could only reach their targets if they met the injectables goal, meaning we had to cross-sell laser customers on skin treatments and injections. If we didn’t meet this target, we couldn’t achieve our overall goal. The target was 5-6 customers a month, but not everyone wants injections, especially in today’s climate. When I first started, bonuses were only given if the entire team met the laser target, not just if you achieved it individually, which was really unfair. Management was another issue. The clinic owner was very condescending and completely unsupportive. During my interview, they essentially said that if you're ever sick, just take a Panadol and come in because this industry is too tough to call in sick. That was a huge red flag for me. The management team was highly unprofessional, and it was clear they only promoted people who sucked up to them and didn’t voice their opinions, which was horrible. Taking annual leave was something everyone was afraid to do, and the work culture was toxic. I would never go back to working for a chain because their ethics and morals are non-existent—they only care about how much money they can make from each customer, regardless of their financial situation. - you have 2-5 minutes to clean your room after each client and average about 25-30 clients a day. It's exhausting and they only give you two 30 minute breaks for a 8:30am and 9:30pm finish. How do you expect your employees to work optimally. Yes, the beauty award does state this but if a client cancels allow your employees to take a breather.
